Dog hitched on motorcycle without carrier gets traffic enforcer's ire

Amid the enhanced community quarantine, a motorcycle rider was reprimanded by authorities for hitching his dog on his vehicle without a carrier.

According to a report by Jun Veneracion on “24 Oras” Thursday, the dog was placed in front of the rider without any safety strap or a carrier.

“Papaano ‘yang aso mo? Lagay mo sa box. Hindi naman pupuwede ‘yan,” the MMDA personnel told the rider.

“Hindi kasi, Sir. may laman ang box,” the rider answered.

According to the MMDA, the number of habal has increased in the past days due to the suspension of public transportation.

Motorcycle riders are now the target of authorities at checkpoints.

“‘Wag naman sana samantalahin natin itong mga panahon na ito na pagkakakitaan natin ang mga kapwa natin,” MMDA traffic operations chief Bong Nebrija said.

Public transportation has been shut down on Tuesday in connection with the enhanced community quarantine over Luzon that the Philippine government declared on Monday.

According to the memorandum, land, air and sea travel shall be restricted.

Public utility vehicles will not be allowed to ply the streets, while the LRT1, LRT2, MRT1 and the Philippine National Railways are likewise suspended.

The Philippines has so far recorded 217 cases of COVID-19 including 17 deaths.

President Rodrigo Duterte has already placed the entire Philippines under state of calamity, allowing the government to tap more funds to contain the spread of the virus. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
