Cops hold up 'Pls. stay home for us' signs along Elliptical Road
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has implemented stricter security measures after cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) climbed up in the city.
A 24 Oras report on Friday said some police personnel lined up along the Elliptical Road carrying signs with the words, "I stayed at work for you. Please stay home for us," and, "Stay home to save lives," as they appealed to the public to strictly follow the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
A portion of East Avenue, from Elliptical Road up to BIR road, has been put under a "facility quarantine" as the area is near hospitals with admitted COVID-19 patients and persons under investigation (PUIs).
A portion of E. Rodiguez Avenue has been closed, as well, from Broadway Avenue up to Santa Cecilia Street, after a case has been confirmed at the nearby barangays of Barangay Kalusugan and Barangay Damayang Lagi.
There are now 31 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Quezon City, Mayor Joy Belmonte announced on Thursday. -Jamil Santos/MDM, GMA News
