QC imposes liquor ban amid quarantine period due to COVID-19
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has imposed a liquor ban in the city from March 26 until the end of the enhanced community quarantine period on April 12 amid the coronavirus disease or COVID-19 pandemic.
Belmonte issued the policy under her Executive Order 24, Series of 2020 which bans selling and purchasing liquor, as well as drinking in public places.
“Ang sinumang lalabag ay huhulihin at parurusahan nang naaayon sa batas,” the Quezon City government said in a statement.
There are 97 COVID-19 cases in Quezon City, of which nine have died and 14 have recovered.
Quezon City, which has a land area of around 166 kilometers and a population of 2.9 million people, has also 46 cases of Patients Under Investigation and 262 Persons Under Monitoring for COVID-19.
Given the situation, the Quezon City Fire District also earlier conducted simultaneous decontamination operations in the following areas:
- Luzon Ave. in Culiat;
- Loans St. in Sangandaan;
- Maries Village in Pasong Tamo;
- Streets of Valerian, Naval, Langkitan, Sampaguita, Victorial and Pascual as well as areas of Baluyot and Area 5 & 6 in Sauyo;
- Tandang Sora Ave. in Culiat;
- Brgy. Apolonio Samson (Olivares Dr., Kaingin Rd., Belvue Subd., Parkway Subd., Old Samson Rd., Balintawak, Toctocan, Cypress Village);
- Balon Bato Quirino Hiway;
- Mendez road (Baesa);
- Pasong Tamo (Mapayapa Village);
- Sta. Lucia, Sta. Monica, Greater Fairview, Pasong Putik, Bagbag in North Fairview and Greater Lagro;
- Kalusugan, Kristong Hari, Don Manuel, along E. Rodriguez going to Damayang Lagi
- Pinyahan;
- Santolan Road;
- Greenhills Garden Condo
- Sunrise Drive;
- Benitez St;
- Mariposa St;
