11 frontline workers assigned at New Clark quarantined in Marikina


Eleven frontline workers who cared for repatriates who were quarantined at the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac are undergoing isolation at the Marikina Hotel as a precautionary measure against the coronavorua disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to a 24 Oras report by Maki Pulido on Tuesday, the 11 workers included three doctors, five nurses, two medical staff, and one driver.

“Nag-test na po kami no’ng nando’n kami sa Tarlac. Negative po kaming lahat,” Dr. James Paul Garcia told Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro.

Each of them has his or her own room which they are not allowed to leave.

The hotel staff who deliver their food and other supplies also wear personal protective gear.

“May medical staff kami na naka-assign dito 24/7 din from City Health Office,” Marikina disaster management office chief Dave David said.

Teodoro urged residents near the hotel who are concerned for their health not to fear the quarantined frontline workers.

“Ito’y mga bayani natin. Hindi natin maaaring talikuran sa ganitong pagkakataon kaya ibinigay na natin itong pasilidad na ito,” he said.

Eleven out of over 2,000 COVID-19 cases nationwide are from Marikina City, according to data from the Department of Health as of Tuesday afternoon.
