Pasig City to shoulder cremation for residents with COVID-19-related death

Vico Sotto announced on social media that the city will be offering free crematory services for any resident who died due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a tweet on Thursday, the Pasig mayor said relatives of the COVID-related casualty only had to call 8-643-0000.

"Para sa mga taga-Pasig na may covid-related death, sagot ng Lokal na Pamahalaan ang CREMATION."

Sotto added, "Rest assured that we strictly follow [Department of Health] protocols and it is 100% safe."

Aside from shouldering the crematory services, Pasig City has also announced on Tuesday that they will be spending over 55.5 million pesos to provide financial assistance for public transport drivers affected by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

As of Tuesday, Pasig City has 140 confirmed COVID-19 cases with over 22 deaths and 28 recoveries.

On Thursday, the Philippines recorded 4,076 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with over 182 deaths and 124 recoveries. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
