Nurse, who ensured safety at PGH, is new martyr in war vs. COVID-19
Another nurse died in the country's fight against COVID-19
The University of the Philippines College of Nursing on Friday mourned the passing of Philippine General Hospital nurse Faye Marie Luna Palafox, who served as a frontliner in the battle against COVID-19.
"During her last seven days in PGH, she performed the role of safety officer-in-charge of ensuring the complete and correct donning of personal protective equipment (PPE) of nurses before these nurses enter their unit," the UP College of Nursing said in a statement.
"While we mourn her passing, we continue to celebrate her life characterized by unwavering dedication and commitment to serve the Filipino people beyond the call of duty. A true UP Nurse, a true IskoNars para sa Bayan!" it added.
Palafox was part of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Class of 1995 and also one of its "IskoNars para sa Bayan."
Palafox started in the PGH as a staff nurse in 1996 then rose to ranks to become the Head Nurse of 5RCB1.
The UP Community also mourned the death of Dr. Francisco Avelino Siy Lukban, UP College of Medicine Class 1982, who passed away on March 25, 2020 due to COVID-19. -NB, GMA News
