Medical City to bring lab services to Metro Manila homes amid COVID-19 crisis

The Medical City (TMC) just launched "Lab on Wheels," a program that lets them bring laboratory services to any home in Metro Manila.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the hospital announced that with the new service, they'll be able to "provide convenient and accessible means of specimen collection" for patients unable to go to the hospital given the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Available procedures include routine hematology, routine blood chemistry, routine serological testing and routine microscopy.

TMC clarified that "Lab on Wheels" will not be providing COVID-19-related testing as the samples are supposed to be collected in a closed, controlled environment to limit cross-infection.

It further clarified that the laboratory home service is available for anyone in Metro Manila who is in need of a routine diagnostic laboratory procedure, especially those recovering, elderly, immune-compromised, and bedridden patients who are asked to stay at home.

How does it work? Upon booking your pick-up schedule, the "Lab on Wheels" van will be going to your preferred location and a medical technologist will collect the sample. Afterwards, the TMC representative will ask you if you prefer to get your results either through email, fax, or pick-up.

For booking or inquiries, simply call 8988-1000 ext. 6122 or 6421 from 8 am to 5 pm.
