Zamora says COVID-19 infections have peaked in San Juan
The city government of San Juan expects their cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to go down in the following days because infections have supposedly already peaked, according to Mayor Francis Zamora.
In a 24 Oras report by Emil Sumangil on Wednesday, Zamora said their data show a downward trend in COVID-19 cases.
“‘Yung bilang ng positive patients ay nababawasan araw-araw, at ito po’y magandang senyales na ‘yung pinaka-peak ng COVID-19 dito sa San Juan ay naabot na,” he said.
“Sa awa ng Diyos, halos pitong araw na na walang pumapanaw. Kinakailangang pag-igihin pa lahat ng efforts natin,” Zamora added.
He stressed that social distancing measures and mass testing are crucial to flatten the curve of COVID-19 cases.
San Juan has recorded 227 confirmed cases with 48 recoveries and 35 deaths as of Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, in Mandaluyong City, the local government is conducting widespread testing to detect COVID-19 carriers.
“No’ng first day namin, nakapagpa-mass testing kami ng 222. Ang nakakatuwa, out of 222, 22 lang ang nag-positive. ‘Yung 200, talagang clear,” Mayor Menchie Abalos said.
