Cash aid distribution in 2 barangays in QC ran until wee hours

The distribution of the social amelioration program subsidy in two barangays in Novaliches, Quezon ran until the wee hours of Thursday due to the long lines of beneficiaries.

According to James Agustin’s 24 Oras report, some residents in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon had to bring their own chairs as they waited in line to receive their financial assistance.

The barangay was able to finish the distribution of the cash aid to more than 6,000 residents at around 3 a.m. on Thursday.

“Mabilis naman po ‘yong proseso eh wala pong nakikitang problema sa proseso, ang nakikita po nating (problema) dahil sa sobrang dami lang po talagang kailangang mabigyan ng ayuda,” Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon chairman Sonny dela Cruz said.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Gulod, the distribution went until 1 a.m.

Acting assistant city treasurer for operations Arnel Cleofas said some beneficiaries were not able to receive aid due to problems with their barcodes.

“Gaya rin noong ibang distribution namin ‘yong nadodoble ‘yong mga pangalan pero ‘yong barcode napupunta sa ibang pangalan so nagkakaproblema tuloy,” Cleofas said.

However, barangay captain Rey Tolentino said the local government will make sure all listed beneficiaries will be able to receive cash assistance.

“Nire-retrieve natin ‘yong mga barcodes na mali at tsaka ‘yong pangalan, spelling na mali and then ipaparehistro ‘yong SAP form nila,” Tolentino said.
