Cops ready for start of localized lockdown in parts of Pasig City

Police roamed around some areas in Pasig City on Sunday morning in preparation for the lockdown to take effect in the evening.

In Napico, Barangay Manggahan, police reminded residents to wear face masks and have barriers installed on motorcycles, according to a report by Luisito Santos on Dobol B sa News TV.

Residents headed to markets to stock up on essential goods before the lockdown.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Saturday announced several areas will be placed under localized enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to the rise in COVID-19 cases.

These areas are Pipino, Labanos, Okra and Ubas Streets in Barangay Napico-Manggahan.

The lockdown will be in effect until lifted by the local government.

"Residents will only be allowed to leave their houses for work and emergency reasons," the LGU said.

The city government also said it would provide food packs to affected residents.

Sotto said he is optimistic residents would cooperate during the lockdown.
