NCRPO to file qualified theft raps vs. Taguig family —Sinas

The National Capital Region Police Office is set to file complaints for qualified theft against a family residing in an old police compound in Taguig City, Metro Manila police chief Police Major General Debold Sinas said Tuesday.

“Pa-file-an namin ng kasong qualified theft. ‘Yong sa jumper sa Meralco side, sa amin qualified theft kasi kami ang nagbabayad eh,” Sinas told reporters.

In a press conference on Tuesday morning, Sinas said they have discovered that the family of a certain Arles delos Santos, the son of Arnel delos Santos who is a former Police Executive Master Sergeant, has been using illegal electricity connection at the old Regional Direct Support Unit compound along Lawton Avenue.

“[I]naari nila ‘yong lugar at gusto nila libre lahat. Kumbaga, naghirap kayo lahat magbayad ng ilaw… Tapos sila jumper ginamit nila,” Sinas said.

“Imagine we are paying for the jumper. Ilang buwan na ‘yan sila gumagamit, buong kamag-anak nila doon sa loob tapos ‘yong tubig, titingnan pa namin kung saan nila kinuha kasi building namin ‘yon, kami nagbabayad,” he added.

The NCRPO earlier said the elder Delos Santos brought his entire family to live with him at the said motor pool quarters. Arles stayed in the compound even after his father had retired from police service in November 2019.

Security forces have also claimed that the older Delos Santos is an illegal occupant of the motor pool building next to the RDSU building so they barricaded the parking area to keep them out.

Meanwhile, the Delos Santos family earlier denounced the alleged harassment of Sinas and his men who supposedly tried to evict them from their residence.

Arles said a “battalion” of cops arrived at their residence and started to dismantle their gate last July 18.

The Delos Santos camp also insisted that they have papers to prove that it is legal for them to stay there.

However, Sinas said the RDSU and motor pool building and the parking garage are inside a lot owned by the Southern Police District.

“‘Yong tatay nila alam nila ‘yan. ‘Yong lugar na tinitirhan nila, ang may-ari niyan pulis po. So paano mo masasabi na mayroon silang authorized (title)?” he said.

Moreover, SPD director Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Peralta said the elder Delos Santos wrote to them in January, asking for an extension for them to live in the compound but it was disapproved.
