Manila LGU explains crowd ignoring physical distancing at project launch
The Manila Public Information Office (PIO) on Sunday explained the photos that surfaced online showing attendees failing to observe social distancing during the launch of vendors’ stalls in Divisoria on Saturday.
According to a report on Dobol B sa News TV, the Manila PIO explained in a Viber message that the organizers failed to control the number of people who arrived at the event.
Manila PIO noted that the participants were reminded of health protocols, particularly physical distancing during the opening of vendors' stalls.
Due to this, Mayor Isko Moreno decided to leave the event immediately as many supporters requested to take photos with him.
According to the Dobol B sa News TV report, Moreno was saddened that he was not able to accommodate all those who attended the launch of the city’s project.
On Saturday, residents of Manila and members of media flocked to Tabora Street in Divisoria to witness the formal opening of vendors' stalls.
