First alarm raised as Marikina River level reaches 15 meters


Water level at the Marikina River has reached the first alarm on Monday afternoon amid heavy downpour, according to the Marikina Public Information Office.

In a Facebook post, Marikina PIO said the water level at the Marikina River was at 15.4 meters as of 4:50 p.m.

The water level went down to 15.3 meters at 5:26 p.m.

 

With the first alarm, residents were alerted for possible evacuations.

Earlier, PAGASA said Tropical Depression Nika is likely to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday.

The weather bureau said it may also intensify into a tropical storm on Monday then into a severe tropical storm by Tuesday morning.—AOL, GMA News
