San Juan LGU regulates use of videoke

The city government of San Juan has regulated the use of karaoke in order to prevent students from being disturbed in their online learning.

According to Mayor Francis Zamora, videoke sessions will only be allowed from Monday to Saturday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Sunday, San Juan residents could use karaoke or videoke machines from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Zamora warned that those who will violate City Ordinance No. 78 could be fined P3,000 for the first offense and P5,000 and/or up to three months imprisonment for the second and succeeding offenses.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government had urged local government units to enact ordinances that will ban noisy activities amid the online learning scheme.

Earlier, the City of Manila also prohibited daytime videoke in the area.  —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
