PNP-IAS eye raps vs. cop in Taguig altercation with Grab driver

Complaints could be filed against Police Captain Ronald Saquilayan, the cop in the viral video having an altercation with a female Grab driver, within the week, according to Philippine National Police - Internal Affairs Service director Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo on Tuesday.

"Within this week ma-place na ang case ni Captain Saquilayan and others under summary dismissal proceedings," Triambulo said in a text message.

Triambulo said Saquilayan could face complaints for alleged grave misconduct, serious irregularities, and conduct unbecoming of a police officer. He said the camp of driver Florence Norial is set to submit pieces of evidence on Wednesday.

"Pumunta dito 'yung victim kanina during clarificatory hearing, conducted by IAS pre-charge investigator. Willing na daw siya hawakan ang kaniyang case ng IAS," Triambulo said.

"Mag-submit siya bukas ng statements at evidence like CCTV footage and affidavit of witnesses," he added.

Norial was arrested outside a commercial establishment for allegedly hurting Saquilayan, which she said was an act of self-defense because the police officer had pushed her during their confrontation.

A police report from the Southern Police District also stated that Norial became unruly so she was arrested by Saquilayan.

After almost a week, she was released after posting a P3,000 bail.—LDF, GMA News
