Manila LGU offers drive-thru installation of RFID stickers

The city government of Manila is offering a drive-thru service for the installation of RFID stickers as the national government aims for 100% cashless tollways payment scheme.

Moreno said the two-day installation would be from October 31 to November 1, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is for Class 1 vehicles, including cars, SUVs and passenger vans.

"No documents needed, pumunta lang kayo dito, Sabado at Linggo.

Initial reports said motorists plying the San Miguel Corp.(SMC)-operated tollways — the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), the Skyway System, NAIA Expressway, and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) — have until the end of November to shift to RFID system.

All lanes at its toll plazas will be fully capable and converted to electronic toll collection by November 2.

From November 2 to 30, vehicles without RFID will still be allowed to enter the expressways.

On the other hand, the MPTC said motorists who don’t have RFIDs by November 2 would still be allowed passage through North Luzon Expressway (NLEx), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx), Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEx), C5 Link, and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAx). —LBG, GMA News
