Four suspects arrested, P3.1M alleged marijuana confiscated in drug bust in Caloocan


Authorities arrested four suspects and confiscated P3.1 million worth of suspected high-grade marijuna in a drug buy-bust operation in Caloocan City on Sunday.

The suspects were identified as Christian Jerico Refuerzo, John Yecla, Ronnel Corpen and Bruce Gaslani.

Philippine National Police chief Police General Debold Sinas told Interior Secretary Eduardo Año that Refuerzo was on the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) drug watchlist. The  other suspects are newly-identified drug personalities, he said.

The drug bust was conducted in Llano, Caloocan City at 12 noon on Sunday by operatives from the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Quezon City Police District Station 4 in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Quezon City and Caloocan City Police Station.

Authorities confiscated 23 bricks of suspected dried marijuana wrapped in transparent plastic, as well as 41 Ziploc bags containing suspected dried marijuana leaves.

Sinas said the total weight of the confiscated suspected marijuana is 26 kilograms, estimated to be worth P3,120,000 in the drug market.

Also confiscated from the suspects were one roll of transparent plastic wrapped with writing "CLAMSHELL", one blue/black shoebox, one green storage box, P1,000 bill buy-bust money, P14,000 boodle money and one gold-colored cellphone.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). —KG, GMA News
