LTFRB to open 8 more traditional jeepney routes in NCR

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is set to open more routes for over a thousand traditional jeepneys in Metro Manila to serve the commuting public amid the further reopening of the economy.

In its Memorandum Circular 2020-073 issued November 16, the LTFRB approved the opening of eight more routes in the National Capital Region for 1,043 units of traditional public utility jeepneys (PUJs), beginning Wednesday, November 18.

The latest development brought the total number of traditional PUJ routes opened by the LTFRB to 386, covering 35,022 units since Metro Manila was placed under general community quarantine on June 1.

“Bilang kapalit ng Special Permit (SP), mayroong QR Code na ibibigay sa bawat operator na dapat ilagay sa short bond paper at ipaskil sa PUV. Mada-download ang QR Code mula sa official website ng LTFRB,” it said.

The agency also reiterated that it has not approved any fare increase in traditional jeepneys.
