Fake money, documents seized in Manila

Three men were arrested on Monday for counterfeiting money, documents and alleged use of illegal drugs in a raid in Sampaloc, Manila.

According to Raffy Tima’s report on “24 Oras,” police identified the suspects as Paulo Guevarra, Francis Tuwalya and Datu Haron Mangundatu.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno led the raid along with the Manila Police District (MPD) Special Mayor’s Reaction Team and representatives from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

“May nabiktima po dito sa Cainta, may nabiktima po dito sa Cavite so umikot na ‘yong pera tapos based doon sa isang tolongges na ‘yon, may pumipickup daw sa kanila tapos based sa information namin, may mga pumaparadang kotse, siguro pinipickup din. Tapos may balita kami na dinadala raw sa probinsya ‘yong iba,” Moreno said.

Fake P1,000 bills, passport and sachets containing suspected illegal drugs were seized from the suspects.

“Sa isang araw, 100 kaya nilang ubusin at mayroon din silang mga marking kung saan ‘pag naloko na nila ang isang establisyimento ay ‘di na nila binabalikan. This is composed of a syndicate talaga,” MPD Special Mayor's Reaction Force chief Police Major Rosalino Ibay Jr. said.

Ibay said they will also coordinate with the Department of Foreign Affairs regarding the seized passports.

The suspects are now under police custody and will face appropriate charges. -- Ma. Angelica Garcia/BAP, GMA News
