Makati Police chief denies admitting wrong assumptions on Dacera case
Makati Police chief Police Colonel Harold Depositar on Friday belied a social media post where he allegedly admitted that he made wrong assumptions about the case of flight attendant Christine Dacera.
"I admit my assumptions on the case were wrong and that my media pronouncements were made without basis," an alleged post by the San Jose City Philippine National Police (PNP) read quoting Depositar, as shown in a 24 Oras report.
The post also quoted Depositar as saying he had apologized to the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, his regional director and President Rodrigo Duterte due to the supposed "embarrassment" he caused the PNP.
Further, the post stated that Depositar had tendered his leave of absence, and submitted himself to disciplinary procedure.
Depositar said the social media post, which has been deleted, was "fake news."
GMA News has sought the San Jose City PNP in Nueva Ecija for comment.
The Makati City Prosecutor's Office has ordered the release for further investigation of the three suspects who have been detained in connection with the death of the 23-year-old flight attendant.
On Friday, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the death of Dacera as he found the initial police investigation "not thorough enough."—Jamil Santos/LDF, GMA News
