MRT-3 chief Rodolfo Garcia passes away
The general manager of the Metro Rail Transit-3, retired General Rodolfo Garcia, has passed away, the Department of Transportation announced on Wednesday night.
In a statement, the DOTr lauded Garcia's efforts to improve the state of the MRT-3.
"The entire DOTr family wishes to condole with the bereaved family of Gen. Garcia. Our thoughts and prayers are with you," the department said.
"We acknowledge and highly appreciate Gen. Garcia for sharing his expertise, knowledge and leadership. We recognize his untiring effort to improve the state of the MRT-3. To Gen. Garcia, a snappy salute, Sir!" it added. "May you rest in peace."
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade in late January said that Garcia contracted COVID-19 and had been admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital.
Apart from Garcia, MRT3 director for Operations Michael Capati also contracted the disease.
The MRT3 said in January that there were 36 MRT-3 office personnel and six among its maintenance provider Sumitomo-Mitsubishi Heavy Industries who tested positive for COVID-19. -NB, GMA News
