Roque: Gyms, spas, internet cafes in Metro Manila closed for the next two weeks
Gyms, fitness centers, spas, and internet cafes will be closed in the National Capital Region (NCR) during the implementation of NCR Plus bubble policy from March 22 to April 4 amid surge of COVID-19 cases, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Tuesday.
Roque’s announcement came a day after he said that gyms and fitness centers can operate at 75% capacity and that spas can operate at 50% capacity in NCR Plus areas in the same period, unless the local government units further issue restrictions.
“Nagkasundo po ang Metro Manila mayors na sarado po sa susunod na dalawang linggo ang gyms, spas, at internet cafe,” Roque said.
The Philippines posted a record-setting 8,109 new COVID-19 cases in a day last March 22, the first day of the implementation of the NCR Plus bubble strategy.
The NCR Plus bubble policy, on the other hand, is a measure wherein residents of Metro Manila and adjacent provinces Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna are prevented from going outside the NCR Plus border unless it was an essential trip—including going to the work place—from March 22 to April 4.
