Health worker in Caloocan catches COVID-19 twice but remains dedicated to duty
A medical frontliner who got re-infected with the coronavirus did not let her experience with the illness stop her from fulfilling her sworn duty as a healthcare worker.
According to a report on "24 Oras," Ruby Suque, an emergency room supervisor in Caloocan City Medical Center South. She caught COVID-19 back in May 2020.
"I got depressed because at the time of pandemic, I wanted to stick together with my emergency room colleagues as we fight COVID-19," she said in Filipino.
She recovered in two months and returned to work, but she caught the virus yet again shortly after coming back to the hospital.
"I also questioned why I got infected again. I took precautions and I just returned to work. I was ready to fight again," she said.
Fortunately she recovered once more, and like a true hero, she did not hesitate to re-join the battle.
"Our dedication to our work does not disappear," she said. "That's why we will risk our lives to be able to serve our fellowmen."
Ruby is one of the medical frontliners who received much-needed protective supplies from the GMA Kapuso Foundation on Friday.
The foundation wanted to pay tribute to the modern-day heroes as the country celebrates "Araw ng Kagitingan."
Ten public hospitals in Metro Manila received 2,000 pieces each of PPE hazmat suits, face shields, alcohol, and face masks. They also received 30,000 pairs of rubber gloves.
