Number of protocol violators down 19% under GCQ —Eleazar
The number of protocol violators since the start of general community quarantine “with heightened restrictions” has dropped by 19%, Philippine National Police chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said Saturday.
At the Laging Handa briefing, Eleazar said we had 51,000 violators last week compared to 63,000 in the previous week.
“‘Yung GCQ with heightened restrictions, ito [ay ipinatupad] lang nu’ng nakaraang mga araw. Pero last week natin e 51,000 ang ating violators compared with the previous week of 63,000.”
He took note of the 19% volume reduction of violators despite the easing up of protocols from modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) to GCQ with heightened restrictions.
“So nakita po natin na kahit medyo bahagyang lumuwag, from MECQ naging GCQ with heightened restrictions… nakita natin ang pagbaba ng 19% nu'ng magkaibang linggo na ‘yon.”
Eleazar said the decrease in the number of violators despite the loosening of restrictions was a good indication that the Filipinos are following public health protocols.
“In effect, nagko-comply sila. ‘Yon ang gusto natin" (They are complying. That is what we want to happen), he added.
Last Monday, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año reported to President Rodrigo Duterte 44,157 violations of public health protocols from May 12 to 16.
The number includes 32,867 violations of face mask protocol, 585 violations of mass gatherings, and 10,705 violations of physical distancing. —LBG, GMA News
