2 test positive for COVID-19 after carousing with home quarantine violator

Two individuals tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Barangay Capri in Quezon City after drinking with an individual who should have been home quarantined.

According to Saleema Refran’s report on “24 Oras,” the individual under home quarantine was a close contact of a relative who succumbed to the illness.

Barangay officials found out about the drinking session and tested those present, leading two individuals testing positive.

Furthermore, the two positive cases had also interacted with other residents.

At present, 14 have tested positive in the area and five streets are under a special concern lockdown.

The City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit also had to swab some 1,000 residents due to the incident.

“Malinaw sa kaniya na dapat is naka-quarantine siya at hindi lumalabas ng bahay. Pero mas pinili niya na lumabas ng bahay at makipaginuman kaya nakapanghawa pa siya ng ibang tao,” an official said.

(He understood that he should be in quarantine and shouldn’t leave the house. But instead, he chose to drink with others, leading him to infect more people.)

“So ayun nga po, dapat talaga sinusunod natin ‘yung mga protocols natin, quarantine protocols,” she added.
