Vendor caught on video putting back food that fell on ground

A carinderia cook was caught on video continuing to cook food that slipped out of his pan and fell on the ground.

According to Mai Bermudez's report on "24 Oras," the vendor accidentally dropped the food he was cooking, which he then returned to the pan after a quick wash.

The vendor was supposed to sell the food near a mall in Binondo, Manila.

"Dumulas po. Papakuluan ko pa lang po tapos dumulas. Hinugasan naman po at tsaka prinito ko naman sa mantika," the vendor said.

(It slipped. I was just about to boil it, then it slipped. I did wash it though, then fried it.)

After he was interviewed by GMA News, the vendor decided to not sell the food.

GMA News had reached out to the Manila Health Department which has yet to respond as of posting time.

Scientists said that the 5-second rule is a myth.

According to an AHA! episode, for every second that food is on the ground, 1% of germs on the ground will have attached themselves to the food.

Microbiologist Dr. Thomas Edison Dela Cruz said, "Ang ating pagkain kapag ito'y bumagsak sa lupa, ito'y magkakaroon na ng mikrobiyo sa unang segundo palang sa pagbagsak niya."
