Taguig among localities with lowest COVID-19 fatality rate
Taguig City remains one of the localities with the lowest COVID-19 fatality rates in the country, the city government said Friday.
Citing the OCTA Research Group, the city said it has a 0.72% CFR recorded from June 17 to 23, which is lower than the 1.5% recorded in the entire National Capital Region.
A low CFR is an indicator of a local government’s capacity to save the lives of those infected with COVID-19.
The research also showed that Taguig City has one of the lowest deaths per million in Metro Manila, at 293 deaths per million people. It added that hospital bed utilization, ICU utilization, and mechanical ventilator occupancy in Taguig hospitals remain at the safe level, which is below 60%.
Mayor Lino Cayetano attributed the results to the city's healthcare workers who have tirelessly performed their duties amid the threat of contracting the virus.
Cayetano thanked them for working round-the-clock to take care of their patients as well as in ensuring more Taguigeños receive their vaccine doses at the soonest possible time.
At least 12 vaccination sites are operating in the city to reach as many people as possible for inoculation.
These vaccination sites include the ones situated at SM Aura, Lakeshore area; Vista Mall Parking Building, Bonifacio High Street; Venice Grand Canal Mall, Lakeshore Trade Center and the eight community vaccine centers at the RP Cruz Elementary School, EM’s Signal Village Elementary School, Western Bicutan National High School, St. Lukes Medical Center, Medical Center Taguig, and Sea Breeze. — DVM, GMA News
