Marikina River water level still normal amid monsoon rains
The water level of the Marikina River was still normal amid the incessant rains brought by southwest monsoon that was enhanced by Typhoon Fabian, the Marikina government said Thursday.
On Facebook, Marikina City Rescue 161 reported that as of 10 p.m., current water level at the river was at 13.9 meters, which is one meter away from first alarm.
It further said that there were no flooded areas reported.
The water level at Marikina River on July 19, before the monsoon rains hit Metro Manila areas, was at 11.4 meters.
On Wednesday, several commuters and motorists were stranded because of the flooding in some areas caused by monsoon rains.
PAGASA earlier reported that in the next 24 hours, Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and the northern portion of Palawan including Calamian and Kalayaan Islands will experience monsoon rains due to the southwest monsoon being enhanced by Fabian. -- BAP, GMA News
