Some NCR LGUs report flooding incidents due to continuous rain
Some local government units in the National Capital Region on Thursday reported flooding in their areas as the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continued to bringing rains in many areas across the country.
As of 10:30 a.m., the Valenzuela City government said that a nearly knee-deep flood was reported in front of the V. Reales-Canumay West Bypass Road in Barangay Vicente Reales.
In a local advisory however, the LGU said that the V. Reales-Canumay West Bypass Road, as well as the Macarthur Highway, Maysan to Bagbaguin Road, and MH Del Pilar Road are still passable.
Also, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported gutter-deep flood at CM Recto corner Rizal Avenue, and in NBI-Taft Southbound areas as of 8:26 a.m. It added that the two areas are still passable.
As of 12 noon, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said a waist-deep flood was reported in Barangay Southside Consular area in Makati.
Gutter-deep flood was also reported on Rizal Ave. Mayhaligue Northbound and Mel Lopez Moriones Southbound as well as half gutter-deep flood in P. Burgos Lawton in Manila, it added.
In Muntinlupa City, the MMDA said knee-deep flood was reported in Barangay Buli Purok 1 Dulo, Barangay Bayanan Navarro Compound, Miranda Compound, and Purok 6 Block 4.
In its 11 a.m. weather advisory, state weather bureau PAGASA said that Habagat will bring moderate to heavy, with at times intense rains, over Ilocos Region, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Occidental Mindoro in the next 24 hours.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Abra, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Oriental Mindoro, and northern Palawan including Calamian Islands, it added.
PAGASA warned of possible scattered to widespread flooding and rain-induced landslides in areas experiencing heavy or prolonged rainfall and areas prone to these hazards. —LBG, GMA News
