Public hospitals in Metro Manila receive thousands of protective supplies from GMA Kapuso Foundation
Public hospitals in Metro Manila have received thousands of protective supplies from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to a report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, among the beneficiaries was Jenny Flores, a midwife whose family was greatly affected by COVID-19.
Her mom tested positive for the virus, as well as her 10-year-old and four-year-old sons.
As a frontliner, Jenny said she might have had contact with someone who tested positive and possibly brought the virus home.
Despite the fear, she continues to be of service to patients who need the hospitals' help.
"As a frontliner, gusto kong makatulong sa ibang tao, magbigay ng serbisyo pero iba po pala feeling 'pag sa family mo na po," she said. "Kahit nahihirapan ka, isipin mo na lang kakayanin mo."
("As a frontliner, I want to help other people, give service to others but the feeling is different when your family is affected. Even though you're having a hard time, you have to think that you can handle it.")
A total of 1,400 PPEs, 1,400 sanitizers or alcohol, 1,400 face shields, 7,000 KN95 face masks, and 7,000 pairs of gloves were given to Metro Manila public hospitals as the capital battles a surge in COVID-19 cases following the detection of the Delta variant.
"Our COVID-19 ward, 100% occupied. This is a big help," said Dr. Rodrigo Hao, Medical Center Chief of the Las Piñas General Hospital and Satellite Trauma Center.
"We are running out of stocks so this is really very timely and we highly appreciate the donation of GMA (Kapuso) Foundation," said Ester Romano, Chief Nurse and Deputy Director for Patent Care Services of the Muntinlupa Hospital.
The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuiller, and Pay Maya. Vouchers can also be bought from Shopee and Zalora.
