89,154 households yet to claim ECQ ayuda in QC —LGU

The Quezon City government on Monday said a total of 89,154 households have yet to  claim their cash assistance  from the national government.

In a statement, the city government said it has already begun the payout of the unclaimed ayuda to beneficiaries who had missed their payout schedule.

Around P2.48 billion of financial aid had been distributed to 2,339,420 people or 747,520 families as of Saturday, the local government unit said.

Citing Social Services Development Department (SSDD) head Fe Macale, the QC government said they updated the beneficiary list to remove ineligible and duplicate names days before the payout.

"Kaya naging mabilis at maayos ang distribution natin ngayon kasi malinis na 'yung listahan natin (The distribution of cash aid became fast and orderly because we updated the list),” Macale said.

At least 2,782 appeals or complaints were reported to the grievance committees. The barangays will endorse the grievances to the city government.

According to Macale, the unclaimed cash aid can be used to provide social assistance to those who appealed to the grievance committees.

The National Capital Region was placed under enhanced community quarantine from August 6 to 20 to prevent the transmission of the more contagious Delta coronavirus variant in the country.

Under ECQ, only essential trips and essential industries such as food and medicine are allowed to operate. On August 21, the capital region was placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ). The classification will last until September 7.

Under MECQ, the transition phase between the strictest measure, enhanced community quarantine, and the more relaxed general community quarantine, no dine-in services and religious gatherings are allowed. However, individual outdoor exercises are allowed.
