Kin finds too lax recommended punishment for cop who killed 18-year-old

The family of victim Edwin Arnigo is not satisfied with the 40-day suspension against the cop who shot and killed the teenager with special needs in Valenzuela City earlier this year.

According to a report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, the suspension is not enough punishment for Police Senior Master Sergeant Christopher Salcedo.

Meanwhile, Philippine National Police chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said the punishment is just a recommendation of the Internal Affairs Service and still subject to reviews.

Police earlier claimed that Arnigo was shot after he attempted to grab the gun of a police officer during a raid in an illegal cockfighting activity in May. A witness, however, belied this.
