DPWH: China-funded Binondo-Intramuros Bridge now 81% complete
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Friday reported a significant progress in the construction of the China-funded Binondo-Intramuros Bridge, which could be opened to the public in the first quarter of 2022.
In a statement, DPWH Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) operations Emil Sadain said the P3.39-billion bridge over the Pasig River is about 81% complete.

The project is financed by a government grant from China.
The Binondo-Intramuros Bridge is a 680-meter, basket-handle tied steel arch bridge that will connect Intramuros at Solana Street and Riverside Drive and Binondo at San Fernando Bridge areas with a viaduct structure over Estero de Binondo.
The DPWH said activities were ongoing for the foundation of up-ramp in Magallanes-Riverside Drive and down-ramp in Solana Street at the Intramuros side and up-ramp in San Fernando Street.
Sadain said the progress of work would hasten with the expected arrival by the third week of October of the steel box girder component for the ramps fabricated in Shanghai.
Once the supply of fabricated girders arrives, immediate launching will be done on the completed piers and the already available precast slab will be installed to complete the ramps, he said.
The bridge project is expected to cut travel time between the two busy districts of Manila and benefit approximately 30,000 vehicles daily.
