Flower sellers in Dangwa hope for brisk sales ahead of Undas

As Undas season approaches, flower sellers in Dangwa market in Manila hope for a new rush of orders before cemeteries close nationwide in accordance with the pandemic guidelines.

The government has ordered the closure of all cemeteries from October 29 to November 2, 2021 to minimize the risk of COVID-19 .

In a "24 Oras" report by Joseph Morong, sellers said they hope the coming All Souls' Day and All Saints' Day could help shore up sales, which have been sluggish due to the lockdown.

“Nakahanda mga tao noon. ‘Yong mga taga-probinsya napunta dito at nabili ng bulaklak,” flower shop owner Agapita Pamulaklakin said.

Prices for regular flower arrangements range from P100 to P700 this year.

“Pagka-ano umaabot ito ng P150, ngayon P100 lang. Parang regular days lang ang bentahan,” Pamulaklakin said.

Relatives of the departed rush to buy flowers before cemeteries close next week.

“Magsasarado yung sementeryo by 30, so at least before 30 makapunta na kami makapagbigay na ng kandila tsaka mga bulaklak," said Renz Pugeda, who went to Dangwa from Cavite to buy flowers ahead of Undas.
