BI arrests high-profile Korean fugitive


A high-profile Korean fugitive hiding in the Philippines has been arrested by the Bureau of Immigration's Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) and the South Korean police.

According to according to John Consulta’s report on 24 Oras on Tuesday, 38-year-old suspect Jung Yun-goo has been wanted in South Korea since 2018 for spreading over 7, 400 pornographic videos on various internet file-sharing websites.

“Sila ay considered as threat to our public safety and security kasi maaari din nilang gawin ulit yung mga krimen na ‘yon sa ating bansa at ang maging biktima ay ang mga kapwa nating Pilipino,” said BI-FSU chief Rendel Sy.

[They are considered a threat to our public safety and security because they could have been doing the same thing in our country, with our fellow Filipinos as the victims.]

Authorities are investigating whether any Filipino citizens were victimized by Jung during his stay in the country.

No comments were made by Jung, who is currently detained in the Bureau of Immigration’s detention center in Bicutan. — Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/BM, GMA News
