Portion of new Ospital ng Maynila to become quarantine facility
A portion of the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center in Malate, Manila will be transformed into a COVID-19 quarantine facility as infections in the city continue to soar, the Manila government said on Tuesday.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said the 10-storey hospital, which is expected to have its soft-opening this January, will augment their quarantine capacity.
“Imagine mo pag na-enclose natin to, baka pwede pag lumobo ‘yung Covid mauubusan ng quarantine. Tutal segregated naman to tapos may sariling access,” Moreno said in a statement.
[Imagine if we enclosed this we can use it if cases spike and our quarantine facilities are almost full. Since this is segregated and it has its own access.]
The Bagong Ospital ng Maynila has a 384 hospital beds with 12 intensive care units (ICUs), and 20 private rooms.
Further, it has a three-storey parking building and a helipad which can be used for emergency medical evacuations.
Manila has so far recorded 93,909 total coronavirus disease infections including 990 active cases, 91,143 recoveries and 1,776. —NB, GMA News
