P50K reward offered for info on DOTr ASec’s former helper
Southmaids Agency on Monday said it is offering a P50,000 cash reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of the former household helper of Transportation Assistant Secretary Goddes Libiran, who allegedly stole the official's jewelry collection and cash.
In a mobile message, Southmaids Agency said it is now in coordination with Libiran regarding the incident involving her helper whom she hired from the agency.
“[O]ur agency will take all the best efforts to find her as soon as possible, will also give a P50,000 reward for the people who can show her to us. We will not tolerate this... ,” it said.
This comes after Libiran over the weekend took to social media to report the theft of her belongings, which she said she believes a newly hired household helper stole.
Libiran said she left the house to get her COVID-19 booster shot, and got home with her jewelry collection and cash gone. The maid was said to have gone out of the house to buy garlic and onions on Saturday afternoon, but no longer returned.
The transportation official has appealed for authorities in the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and Southmaids Agency to find the individual.
Libiran identified the maid as Marilou Fernandez — who also goes by the names Jhearjazz Senlabay, Marilou Mislang, Malou Mislang, and Marilyn Morales.
“Our agency Southmaids is now properly coordinating with ASec. Goddes Hope Libiran which is one of our old client (sic),” it said in a mobile message.
Southmaids said it has also provided all the necessary documents, including the NBI clearance and contacts of the said helper, and is also coordinating with the Association of Licensed Private Employment Agencies of the Philippines Inc. (ALPEAP) to take action.
In a follow-up post, Libiran again called on the public to report any information they have to the police.
“Malaking tulong po ito. Tangay n’ya po kasi kahit ‘yung alahas na bigay pa ng lola, nanay, at asawa ko. ‘Yung sentimental value ng mga ‘yon, hindi matutumbasan ng kahit magkanong salapi,” she said.
