Pasay City imposes one-week health break for students, teachers

The Pasay City government on Friday imposed a one-week “health break” for students and teachers following the increase of COVID-19 cases in the country.

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano signed Executive Order No. 28 which declared the suspension of classes in all levels in both public and private schools in the city starting January 15 until January 22, 2022.

Rubiano issued the order to allow all students and teachers to recover from the “physical and mental fatigue” caused by COVID-19 pandemic.

“Also to afford them ample time in determining the much needed retooling of minimum public health protocols to protect themselves from the virus,” the order read.

The Pasay mayor said all concerned local government unit departments and Department of Education (DepEd) Pasay were directed to monitor the compliance of the released order.

Meanwhile, Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro earlier announced there would be no classes from January 17 to 29 in all levels in both public and private schools in the city.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno also declared a health break for students and teachers in both public and private schools in Manila from January 14 to 21, 2022.
