Four MRT3 stations eyed as vaccination sites —DOTr


The Department of Transportation is planning to establish on-site vaccination sites in four Metro Rail Transit 3 stations.

In President Rodrigo Duterte's Talk to the People, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said the vaccination facilities are still subject to the approval of the Department of Health.

The four MRT3 stations being eyed as vaccination sites are in Cubao, Shaw Boulevard, Boni, and Ayala.

"The vaccination facilities that we will put up ...will be in accordance with the details, policies, and requirements of the DOH," Tugade said.

Aside from the MRT3 stations, he said the DOTr is also planning to put up on-site vaccination sites at the airport and seaports.

"Mayroon din sa air, terminal 4, nag-set aside kami ng lugar doon na kung kinakailangang maging vaccination facility sa paliparan," Tugade said.

"Mayroon din sa north harbor na tinatayo namin," he added.

The government has been ramping up inoculating eligible population amid the spread of the more transmissible Omicron COVID-19 variant.

Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje, chairperson of the National Vaccination Operations Center, earlier said from the the initial seven pharmacies in Metro Manila which were tapped to give the COVID-19 shots, the government is looking at involving drug stores in Regions 3 and 4A .

The Department of Health said over 57 million Filipinos are fully vaccinated versus COVID-19, which is 73% of the country's eligible population. Over 6.2 million Filipinos got their booster doses.—LDF, GMA News
