Online seller falls victim to scammers

An online seller lost P6,500 in cash after falling victim to a phishing scam.

According to Maki Pulido's report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, Jason Cruz said he lost the money through a new feature of a mobile e-wallet application.

Cruz said the phishing was made through GCash's KKB or "kaniya-kaniyang bayad" feature, a cashless way to split bills.

The National Bureau of Investigation then warned the public as scammers have creative ways to phish money nowadays.

"Sabi, tiga-GCash kami, mag-open kayo ng account and in return, bibigyan namin kayo ng P500...

He also called on the public to never give anyone their pin and one-time password.
