40% of ages 5 to 11 in Pateros booked for COVID vax —mayor

Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III on Thursday said that around 40% of the target recipients under the age group five to 11 have already registered for COVID-19 vaccination in his town.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Ponce said the registration for the vaccination of residents in the 5 to 11 age group has been open for some time.

“Sa ngayon po, kung tina-target namin na mga 6,000 na babakunahan na five to 11, ay siguro po nasa bandang 40% na po ang nakarehistro,” he said.

(Currently, if we are targeting to vaccinate 6,000 kids ages five to 11, perhaps around 40% already registered.)

Citing the local government’s experience in vaccinating adolescents aged 12 to 17 years old, Ponce said the number of registration will improve when the inoculation starts.

The vaccination against COVID-19 of children ages 5 to 11 was initially set to start on February 4 in the National Capital Region, the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 said.

According to NTF chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito G. Galvez Jr., the vaccine supply for children ages five to 11 is expected to arrive within the last week of January. —LBG, GMA News
