British man arrested for assaulting other foreigners and own bodyguard, alleged extortion

A British national is now in serious trouble after being caught on video assaulting several individuals and accused of extorting money from them.

According to Emil Sumangil’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, suspect Mark Wall was caught on CCTV attacking foreign individuals in three separate night clubs in Makati, as well as attacking his Filipino bodyguard.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Wall’s modus operandi is to first intimidate foreigners and then extort them for money.

“Nag-conduct po kami ng record check; napag-alaman po namin na may kaso po itong fraud base po sa Interpol records. May information din po kami na involved din po siya sa pang-iscam sa ibang bansa,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Michael John Villanueva, Chief of CIDG Southern Metro Manila, said.

(We conducted a record check and found out that he is facing a fraud charge according to Interpol records. We also have information that he is involved in scamming in other countries.)

Two of Wall's supposed victims, an Egyptian named Akhmad and an Iranian named Steve, said that Wall had been staring at them before suddenly assaulting them.

“I didn’t do anything to him. He just came and hit me in the face and then he gets his gun—'I’m gonna kill you.' No reason. Just like that,” Akhmad said.

“'Why are you looking at my wife?' I’m like, 'I’m not looking at your wife, why are you attacking?' I just realized this person likes to attack random people,” Steve added.

Another individual, "SD," a business partner of Wall, shared the same experience.

“Transferred every property under his name and then he pulled a gun on me. And then he said, ‘If I know you’re helping him, I’m gonna kill you, I’m gonna kill him, I’m gonna kill all of you,” SD said.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s Filipino wife was also arrested for allegedly interfering with the police operation. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
