GMA News rides 'libreng sakay' to NLET, finds out how commuters deal with fewer buses

GMA News' Jonathan Andal tried a free bus ride to one of the designated terminals just outside Metro Manila amid the ban on provincial buses inside the capital region except between the window hours between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

To find out how commuters are dealing with the limited number of buses plying the provincial routes due to the government policy, he hopped on a "libreng sakay" from Cubao to the North Luzon Express Terminal in Bocaue.

NLET is where buses bound for destinations in Central and Northern Luzon were supposedly available.

He was the only passenger on the free bus ride, which took two hours because of the traffic congestion on the route which skipped EDSA.

There were also a few buses and passengers when he got to NLET.

"Baka hindi pa alam ng mga tao na may ganitong bus," the driver of the free bus ride said.

While there was no crowd at NLET, one passenger said it was still a hassle having to go the Bulacan terminal when before he could easily catch a ride to the province from Manila.

There are also free rides going to the Philippine Integrated Terminal Exchange for buses bound for provinces south of Metro Manila.

Passengers with heavy bags, however, have to go up and down the high footbridges to access the EDSA bus carousel.
