Authorities nab 3 Korean fugitives in separate operations
Authorities arrested three Korean fugitives on Saturday in two separate operations.
John Consulta’s “24 Oras Weekend” report said operatives from the Bureau of Immigration–Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) apprehended the two Koreans at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 4.
BI-FSU elements said the two suspects were priority targets in South Korea because of their group's large illegal operations.
“May outstanding warrant of arrest sa Korea dahil sila ay isa sa mga lider ng isang telecom fraud syndicate na nag-o-operate dito sa ating bansa, na sinasabing kumita na ng 80 million Korean won,” said Rendel Sy, chief of BI-FSU.
Sy said that authorities had monitored the two suspects while vacationing in Palawan, and apprehended them at the airport.
Meanwhile, the other Korean fugitive, who is also a leader of a scam syndicate, was apprehended in Quezon City.
He was also allegedly involved in a scam syndicate and has been arrested for the murder of another Korean.
“Mayroon silang birthday celebration doon na magkakaibigan, nagkaroon sila ng heated argument. Nagkaroon sila ng fist fight. Nagkataon na yung kaibigan niya napuruhan niya, nagkaroon ng head trauma,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Bryan Andulan, chief CIDG Cavite said.
