Man arrested in Pasig for carrying a grenade, replica pistol –NCRPO
Authorities apprehended a man on May 16 for carrying a hand grenade and replica pistol, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported Tuesday.
According to Eastern Police District Director Police Brigadier General Orlando Yebra, the NCRPO identified the suspect as 33-year-old Jezreel Bierra.
The police report recounted how Pasig City police officers were dispatched for a follow-up operation on a hold-up incident on May 15, 2022 in Barangay Kapitolyo.
The policemen spotted Bierra walking along Farmers Avenue in Barangay Manilao with a pistol tucked into his waist.
The police officers approached the suspect and asked him for the necessary documents. But he failed to present any, prompting his arrest and recovery of the contraband items.
A hand grenade was found inside Bierra’s sling bag. This was given to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit of the Pasig police for proper disposition.
Complaints for the Illegal Possession of a Hand Grenade and Handgun (Replica) in relation to BP 881 or the Omnibus Election Code would be prepared against Bierra, according to the NCRPO.
“We can never tell the consequences that these contrabands might cause when used for illegal activities,” Police Major General Felipe Natividad, NCRPO chief, said in a statement. — DVM, GMA News
