Danao’s words pushed SUV driver’s family to present Sanvicente

The remark of PNP officer in charge Police Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao on the reason why Jose Antonio Sanvicente would not submit himself to the authorities pushed his family to present him to the police official on Wednesday.

According to Raffy Tima's report on "24 Oras",  Sanvicente's mother admitted that the family became anxious after hearing Danao say that the reason the driver was not giving himself up could be that he was using drugs.

“Natakot na talaga ako. Then I said gawin na natin. We have to go to General Danao already,” she said.

It took Sanvicente 10 days after the incident before surrendering to the police.

He is the owner and the driver of the white SUV which hit and ran over a security guard manning traffic in Mandaluyong City.

The parents of the suspect said they were also shocked especially after the video went viral on social media.

“Hindi ho kami makatulog, hindi ho kami maka-kain. Syempre anak namin yung involved at saka nagviral na eh diba. Masisira na yung buhay ng anak ko,” the mother of the suspect said.

(We cannot sleep, we cannot eat. My son is involved and it went viral. It would destroy the life of my son.)

“Any parent ba ganoon ang gusto niyo sa anak ninyo? Mabait yung anak ko, nagtatrabaho siya, he is a very responsible man. I think ito aksidente naman talaga ito, lumaki lang talaga nang lumaki,” she added.

(No parent would like the incident to happen to their child. My son is a good man, he works, and he is a very responsible man. I think this was an accident that went out of control.)

The father of the suspect, on the other hand, vowed that they will shoulder the medical expenses of the security guard Christian Floralde.

“Kahit anong klaseng tulong nung nasaktan na ang cause niyan ay 'yung aksidente, willing po kaming tumulong,” father of Sanvicente said.
