Dutch fugitive nabbed after 10 years of hiding in Philippines
The Bureau of Immigration-Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) has arrested a Dutch national who had been in hiding in the Philippines for more than ten years.
According to John Consulta’s report on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, BI-SFU chief Rendel Sy said that 63-year-old Andre Lapierre was nabbed in his condominium in Makati City following two months of surveillance.
Sy said the fugitive was wanted in Netherlands for alleged rape, sexual abuse, and illegal possession of firearms.
“Itong biktima ni Lapierre ay inabuso niya umpisa ng 4 years old hanggang tumuntong ng 15 years old itong batang babae. Sinasabi nga inabuso niya at ginahasa,” he added.
(He abused a little girl from when she was four years old until she was 15. He abused and raped the girl.)
Sy said the Dutchman was one of the agency's priority targets.
“Isa siya sa number one na hinahanap natin na mga puganteng nagtatago dito sa atin kasi napakadelikado na nandito sila nag-stay sa atin at maaaring makapag-biktima rin ng mga Pilipino,” he said.
(He was one of the top fugitives we were looking for because it is dangerous that he is here and could have victimized Filipinos.)
The fugitive arrived in the Philippines in 2008 and would transfer residences to avoid arrest. He is currently in a holding area while awaiting the completion of his deportation process. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
