Maynilad finishes repair of damaged pipeline; water service restored in most areas

Maynilad Water Services Inc. on Saturday said it has finished repairing the pipeline on Pureza Street in Manila which was damaged accidentally by a third-party contractor doing drainage work.

"We had already opened the valve and started the flushing activities on the mainlines," the company said in a statement issued at 12 noon.

This has allowed Maynilad to restore water supply to 80% of the customers affected due to the incident.

"Water pressure is building up on our network and we had managed to restore the water supply of 80% of the affected customers in Manila, Makati, Las Pinas, Pasay and Parañaque," Maynilad said.

The company is confident it can restore water supply to the other affected areas ahead of schedule.

"We expect that the water supply in other areas will resume ahead of schedule," it said.

Maynilad advised customers to let the water flow out first for a few seconds until it clears.

The water service was interrupted starting Friday in some barangays in Manila, Makati, Paranaque, Las Piñas and Pasay due to the damaged pipeline. —KG, GMA News
