Motorist runs red light; hits SUV, motorcycle in chase
An SUV driver who allegedly ran a red light in Divisoria and led authorities in a chase around Manila was eventually caught and handcuffed, Chino Gaston reported Monday on “24 Oras.”
Based on the initial investigation, members of the Manila Police District (MPD) and the Manila Traffic Bureau arrested suspect Clint Xerwynn Errol Kho at the Delpan Bridge in Intramuros after he tried to escape the traffic enforcers who flagged him for running a red light.
During the chase around the city, Kho also allegedly hit another SUV and a motorcycle.
“Pinara nila yung suspect, dumere-derecho pa rin nag-beating the red light. Kaya hinabol nila. Pag habol nila paikot-ikot sila sa Lacson hanggang napunta sa Sta. Cruz, doon marami na siyang nabunggo,” P/Cl. John Patrick Mañaol, MPD Traffic Bureau Investigator, said.
(They tried to pull the suspect over but he sped past them and ran the red light. They chased him here and there, from Lacson to Sta. Cruz — that’s where he rammed into other vehicles.)
GMA News tried to get Kho’s statement but he refused to comment.
Kho is being held in an MPD Traffic Bureau detention cell and will face raps for resistance and disobedience to a person of authority and reckless imprudence resulting in multiple damage to property.
Police reminded motorists to be careful when driving and to adhere to traffic laws. Drivers were also urged to respect enforcers, saying they are only fulfilling their mandate. — Sundy Mae Locus/DVM, GMA News
