Social influencer, 4 Tiktokers face raps for damaging peso bills

A social media influencer and four others are facing complaints before the Quezon City Prosecutors' Office after posting videos online of money getting torn, punctured, stapled, and used to wipe one's shoes.

According to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras", the subjects of the complaints were a social media influencer who tore a 20-peso bill in a video posted online.

Complaints were also filed against a magician who punched a hole into a 1000-peso bill with a pen, a man who used a 50-peso bill as a funnel in pouring oil into a motorcycle engine, one who stapled a 100-peso bill to a plastic basketball rim, and another who wiped his shoes with two 500-peso bills before throwing the cash to the ground.

The BSP said "willful defacement, mutilation, tearing, burning or destruction of Philippine banknotes and coins are punishable by a fine of not more than PHP20,000.00 and/or imprisonment of not more than five years. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA News
